Second Unit helps people discover, visit and recreate real-world film and TV filming locations. By using the app you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy below.

Terms of Use

1. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Second Unit for its intended purpose, subject to these terms and to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement.

2. User-generated content and zero tolerance for objectionable content

Second Unit lets users contribute content, including filming-location pins, descriptions, photographs, film-still comparisons ("match cuts"), comments and profile details.

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You must not upload, post or share content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or that invades another person's privacy or endangers anyone. You must not impersonate others or misuse another person's images or property.

You are solely responsible for content you submit and confirm you have the rights to share it. By submitting content you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it within the Second Unit service.

We may review, moderate, refuse, remove or edit any content, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We aim to remove reported objectionable content and to act on abusive users within 24 hours.

3. Reporting and blocking

You can report content you believe is objectionable using the report control in the app, and you can block a contributor so their content no longer appears to you. Reports are sent to our moderators for review.

4. Intellectual property & takedown requests

We respect intellectual property rights. Film stills and other copyrighted material must only be submitted where you hold the rights or the use is otherwise lawful.

If you believe content in Second Unit infringes your copyright or other rights, or is otherwise objectionable, request removal by emailing support@donegal.pictures with the subject "Takedown Request" and including:

• Your name and contact details;

• Identification of the content (the film/TV title, the location description, and/or a screenshot that identifies it in the app);

• The right you hold and the basis for the request;

• A statement that your request is made in good faith.

We will review takedown requests promptly and remove content that we determine is infringing or objectionable, and may terminate repeat infringers.

5. Accuracy, safety and disclaimers

Filming-location data is community-sourced and may be incomplete, approximate or inaccurate. Some locations are on private property or in hazardous places. You are responsible for your own safety and for respecting private property, local laws and access restrictions. Second Unit is provided "as is" without warranties, and to the maximum extent permitted by law we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the app or reliance on its content.

6. Termination & changes

We may suspend or end your access for breach of these terms. We may update these terms; continued use means you accept the changes. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account: a user identifier from Sign in with Apple, and the anonymised display name generated for you. We do not receive your Apple password. If you use Apple's private relay email, we do not receive your real email.

• Contributions: the locations, descriptions, photos, match cuts, comments, votes, follows and favourites you create.

• Location: with your permission, your device's approximate location, used only to sort nearby filming locations. It is not stored on our servers.

How we use it

To provide and sync the service, display and moderate community content, and operate features such as favourites, following and notifications. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking.

Where it is stored

Account and contribution data are stored in Apple's iCloud/CloudKit public database associated with the app. Sign in is handled by Apple. Film and TV metadata and imagery are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB); this product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Your choices and rights

You can block other users and delete individual contributions. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account; this removes your account and personal data and anonymises your public contributions. Depending on your location you may have rights to access, correct or erase your data (for example under GDPR or CCPA) - contact support@donegal.pictures.

Children

Second Unit is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
